Harness Nature. Restore Balance.
We are a marine restoration company that turns Australia's most destructive invasive species into premium functional bioactive ingredients — actively healing our reefs while we do it.
We don't just talk about sustainability — we prove it.
ROPA — Regenerative OceanProducts Australia — was founded on a single conviction: that the answer to some of our most pressing environmental problems is already in the ocean, waiting to be turned into a solution.
We harvest invasive seaweed(Undaria pinnatifida / Wakame) and sea urchin (Centrostephanus rodgersii) from Australian coastal waters — two species that are devastating native marine ecosystems — and transform them into high-performance bioactive ingredients for cosmetics, skincare, and personal care.
Every product sold is underpinned by verified removal of invasive biomass from Australian waters. It’s not a marketing claim. It's how our supply chain works.

Functional bioactives from the sea.
Our ingredients are sourced, processed, and verified in-house — from the ocean floor to the formulation bench. This full supply chain ownership means unmatched quality, provenance, and a sustainability story that holds up to scrutiny.
Undaria Pinnatifida Extract (Wakame Seaweed) Wakame is one of the world's most ecologically destructive invasive seaweeds. In Australian waters it outcompetes native algae and smothers reef habitats. By harvesting it commercially, we actively suppress its spread while producing one of the most bioactive-rich skincare ingredients available.
Our Undaria P. extract is freeze-dried — a critical advantage over air-dried alternatives. Freeze-drying locks in the seaweed's full spectrum of bioactives, including fucoidan, alginates, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. The result is an extract that performs consistently in formulations and supports strong efficacy claims.

Our Undaria P. Extract isavailable now on a B2B basis and has been approved for use at New Directions, one of Australia's leading cosmetic contract manufacturers. A consumer skincarerange — built around this extract — launches in Spring/Summer 2026/27.
Turning a reef crisis into a circular resource.
The Sea Urchin Problem
The Longspined Sea Urchin(Centrostephanus rodgersii) is one of the most ecologically destructive marine pests in southeastern Australia. Its population has exploded to an estimated 20million individuals — creating vast 'urchin barrens' where once-thriving kelp forests stood.

State and federal governments are now funding active culling programmes in Tasmania and Victoria. ROPA operates as a commercial partner to these programmes — providing an economic incentive that makes large-scale, sustained removal commercially viable for the first time.
What We Do With the Urchin
Where others see waste, we see raw material. We wild harvest sea urchin and collect waste from seafood processors to make functional ingredients.
Chitosan— The Ingredient the Ocean Made
Chitosan is a high-value biopolymer derived from chitin — the structural material found in sea urchin shells and crustacean exoskeletons. It is one of the most versatile natural functional ingredients in cosmetics and personal care.
Our R&D team is actively developing proprietary chitosan extraction and processing methods at our lab. ROPA's chitosan is differentiated by its origin: traceable, wild-harvest, from an invasive species being actively removed to protect Australia's reef ecosystems.
That provenance is commercially valuable in a market increasingly scrutinising ingredient sustainability claims.
